Guide to Chocobo Breeding
Chocobo breeding is a long and tedious process.
Before you try it, be prepared to reset the game several times and spend
several hours doing extremely boring activities. The end result, however,
is well worth the effort. It allows you to get to several secret areas
in the game.
This is how you catch a Chocobo, refer to
this whenever I say "catch a chocobo" in this guide. To catch a chocobo,
you must first have the Chocobo Lure materia equipped and be on some Chocobo
tracks. When you enter a fight, there will sometimes be a chocobo with
the enemies. The first thing to do is give the chocobo a Mimmeto Green
so it doesn't run away. Then kill all the enemies but don't hit the chocobo.
If you manage to kill all the enemies without hitting the chocobo or it
running away, you will have caught it. If you have rented a chocobo stable
at the chocobo farm, you will get the option to have the chocobo return
to the stables when you dismount.
-
To get a Gold Chocobo, you will need to be in Disc
2 or 3, have the Highwind, and have exactly 392,000 gil. Your first step
is to buy the Chocobo Lure Materia from the guy in the Chocobo stable for
2,000 gil. Also buy 20 Mimmeto Greens from the same guy for 30,000 gil.
-
Go to the house next to the stables and rent all
six stables from the guy for 10,000 gil each.
-
Get into the Highwind and fly up to the Northern
Continent. (the one full of snow) Somewhere on this continent, there is
a house surrounded by a small patch of grass. This is the Chocobo Sage's
house. Go into the house and buy 60 Sylkis Greens from the guy.
-
Next, run around the grassy area around the Chocobo
Sage's house fighting enemies until you run into a large red reptile. Steal
a Carob Nut from it and then kill it or run away. Repeat this process until
you get a three Carob Nuts.
